Shack PC PSA: Massive Steam Holiday Sale Plus Savings on Torchlight, GOG's Catalog and More

62
Update: As expected, Steam has now begun rolling out its massive holiday sale, with daily and week-long discounts of up to 80% through Sunday, January 3, 2010, including massive savings on entire company catalogs. The highlights are below.

Original: With Christmas just a few days off, 'tis the season for digital retailers to start rolling out, or at least tease, their major year-end sales on PC offerings. For example, Good Old Games is offering "up to 40% off nearly every game in its catalogue."

Torchlight and Trine

Some mighty fine deals are underway, including half-off Runic's awesome action-RPG Torchlight--making it $9.99, the perfect chance to test the Steam version's newly added Cloud integration and server-side save game storage--and 60% off Trine, bringing Frozenbyte's wizard-centric puzzle-platformer down to just $7.99.

Thanks to everyone that tipped us off, taczbr in particular.

Personally, its criminal act not to buy Torchlight - $9.95 and Trine - $9.99 if you don't have em.

These two games are outstanding and could occupy you all through winter for sure.

Not to mention Torchlight has crazy mod potential, for I have dabbled a bit and it will be my next project and there is shit loads you can do. So if you want something that will last a long time for $9.95 its a freeking steal.

Just my thoughts, if any one is un sure.

Trine didn't do much for me, but couldn't agree more on the Torchlight comments. So glad i got in on the 9.99 steam sale this past weekend. don't miss out again!

Indeed. They have two Steam achievements for Torchlight just for using mods. I cant' wait to see what user-created content rises to the top.

Torchlight is amazing, I just wish it was the Steam version on sale--having your saved games stored in a server-side cloud is really quite amazing. I can log in from any PC, install the game, and have my saves.

I have the steam version but it doesn't save my stuff server side. I have a destroyer on my laptop and a mage on my desktop.

that functionality was just added friday. coicidentally, just as I was returning from a trip where that would have been super handy.

That's killer. A good friend gifted this to me and it's been a great throwback to Diablo II!

earlier in the day, torchlight was on sale on d2d but not steam. that has since (obviously) changed.

I agree, I just bought it because of the sale and because steam cloud is a big selling point for me. I want to try out some Torchlight mods too, can you recommend some?

Both of these games use steam cloud, and they're both on sale at d2d without steamworks/cloud integrated. LOL!

Anyways, whether or not you use Steam, these are two of the best little gems that came out this year.

And now they're both on steam for the same price.

Is it like Diablo? I could never get into that game. Trine however, is well worth $10.

I'm curious about Trine - it's way down in price I know but something is preventing me from buying it. Is it really worth it?

I will play this torchlight demo, will that show me enough about torchlight to be grasped by the nurtz?

No multi-player in Torchlight is an absolute travesty.
