Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition Hits Steam

Joining other retailers and digital outlets, the expansion-packing Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition is now available for digital download from Steam.

Priced at $49.99, the Game of the Year Edition bundles Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG with the five downloadable expansions--Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, Mothership Zeta--that arrived post-release at $10 a piece.

At present, the all-inclusive Game of the Year Edition marks the only way to purchase the expansions through Steam, as the individual add-ons for the regular edition can only be acquired through the Games for Windows Live Marketplace.

I bought this on Steam when it first came out and whether on Vista 32bit or Win7-64bit it freezes on me. 8800gt, q6600... pretty standard rig.

This is literally the first game in my 20 year history of PC gaming that I've had to throw in the towel on because it won't work. WTF

I wish Nvidia would get their current drivers worked out to fully support this game again. 186.18 (or any drivers pre-190.xx) were the last forceware revision(s) released that would allow it to play stutter free with FSAA enabled.

Yeah, It runs smooth with it completely disabled and i'm cool with that, but it also ran smooth with FSAA before the issue cropped up.

I've also been reluctant to patch beyond 1.0.0.15 due to VATS lag that came with the patches after (and subsequently have avoided the DLC due to the patch requirement)... does that issue still exist since patch 1.7?

Couldn't wait and bought the retail version months ago. I am having a BLAST with all the mods; some amazing work out there. However, I need more, Bethesda! I need more DLC! I need more regions to explore. I know that we're not going to see New Vegas by Fall 2010. Obsidian will not be able to come up to speed by that time so WTF am I supposed to do? Fallout 4 is years away. No hint of an Elder Scrolls any time soon. Serious gap in the product pipeline, Bethesda. Not cool.

I recently tried it and I absolutely hated it, I didn't even get out of the vault. It was buggy, crappy animation, crappy faces, crappy lip syn, repeating dialogue all the time, bad movement feeling. It turned me off so much that I didn't get out of the vault before I quit.

I already bought the non-GOTY but I suppose both the GOTY and non-GOTY share the exact same location on the computer to save games, so if I ever want to play the expansions I'll just have to buy the GOTY edition and continue where I was.

Got the GOTY edition for PS3. Played the shit out of it..until MW2 came out. Once i get pissed off enough at MW2 ill go back and try to finish it.

Although by now I have forgotten a great deal of it, I think Fallout 3 may still be my favorite game of all time. Considering the 5 DLC packs themselves are 10 bucks each (mediocre or not), this is a steal. The Steam-ness just sweetens the deal (although I'm pretty sure they removed the disc check with an official patch).

I've been hoping this would hit Steam. I have GOTY for my PS3, but maybe in a year or two I will pick this up for PC because of the mods. I imagine there will be some really neat stuff coming out in the next year. I hope!
