Sam Bass, co-lead designer on EALA's Command & Conquer 4, narrates this five-and-a-half minute highlights reel of the strategy sequel's campaign mission "Transport Down," offering a fair amount of in-game footage and insight along the way.

Billed as the "epic conclusion to the beloved Tiberium universe" and sporting all sorts of RPG-esque tweaks to the franchise, such as class-based units and persistent player progression, Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight hits PC on March 16. If you can't wait that long, well, pre-orders get access to the five-on-five multiplayer beta...

Try RA3 if you're a fan of the franchise. Unlike C&C3, that game was pretty good, probably because EA learned from their mistakes.

But I don't know if you'll like this because it seems like they're deliberately going away from the classic C&C gameplay and into some kind of a Dawn of War 2-ish RPG-RTS hybrid thing. Which is a good thing for me, because I loved DoW2. But it definitely won't have the same gameplay style as the previous C&C games.

Agreed on RA3. I was never a huge fan of RA1 or RA2, but RA3 was simply amazing. Most co-op fun I've ever had across all gaming platforms. Playing RA3: Uprising now and loving every minute of it, only wish co-op made it in as well.

That's a really different reaction from other ones I've heard. I haven't played RA3, but a lot of people who enjoyed the older ones I saw were disappointed in RA3. What's the gameplay like compared to the older ones?

RA3 is like RA2, jacked up to 11

RA3 was abyssmal compared to RA2. RA1 was great, but RA2 was better than RA1. RA3 is too fast paced, the horrible outlines around every unit, how zoomed in everything is in comparison to RA2. The overall feel of the game changed. RA3 ruined the series, and I knew that EA would fuck it up once they got their claws on Westwood. RIP. Generals was pretty good, but from there, everything was downhill...cliffhanger style.

What? Are you kidding me? They ruined the game with...fast pace and selection outlines? The former is a good thing, the latter just doesn't make sense.

But the things that actually make RA RA are there, the cheesy B-movie atmosphere, the outlandish over-the-top units, the FMVs. But then it actually plays better than RA2 too, because it's just balanced much better, not that far from Starcraft levels of balance.

It's stupid to like RA2 and hate RA3. Unless somehow the camera elevation determines your opinion of an RTS by itself.

I don't get this. C&C3 was pretty good but RA3 was absolutely terrible. It's like they thought making it extra silly means they no longer have to put any effort into it.

I gotta admit, this looks pretty good. I went from not caring about the franchise anymore to having a peaked interest again.
