"I associate witches with black panthers," director Hideki Kamiya notes in the below video, explaining one of the mysteries behind Platinum's over-the-top action game Bayonetta. Other topics broached? "Huge scale" boss fights and wall-walking magic.

Coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Bayonetta hits North America on January 5 and Europe on January 8, with a downloadable demo now available on both platforms.

Tried the demo the other night. The music is drive me insane annoying. The graphics aren't doing it for me... I'm just not into Japanime stick figure women in ridiculous outfits I guess. And the gameplay although not too bad, but considering everything else, I think I'd rather play another upcoming hack-n-slash clone other than this one.

As if I didn't want this game enough already. That trailer was ridiculously epic. I'd buy this game for the cinematics alone, if they're half as good as I think they're going to be. The cutscenes in DMC4 were ridiculously over the top awesome, and this looks no different.

When i first saw shots and videos of this game, I thought it was some weird fighting game with only one player character. Now I see that its just over-the-top ridiculous GoW-like chaotic action, and it makes me want to buy a console. Looks wicked!

Oh wow this is fucking awesome. I am really sad that I don't have a console for it, I would totally preorder this on steam right away if it was on PC.

I really really hope there will be a port for this one.
