ModNation Racers Player Customization Trailer and Beta Details

United Front Games announced an upcoming beta for its customizable kart-racing game, ModNation Racers, beginning on December 18th and running through January 10, 2010.

According to the official PlayStation Blog, those who picked up a copy of LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year Edition, received a ModNation Racers beta code voucher in the box. Everyone else is advised to, "Stay tuned very soon for details on the Beta giveaway." Additional beta vouchers will soon be made available via the PlayStation Blog.

Accompanying the beta announcement is a video providing a basic walkthrough of ModNation Racers' robust player-creation tools, namely the sticker and layering system.

ModNation racers comes out exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in Spring 2010.

    Can I use a mouse to do all that photoshoppery instead?

    Doing that kind of thing with a gamepad just makes my brain wail in protest at the inefficiency.

      Thats exactly what I thought. Thinking of pointing so much with a thumbstick makes my thumbs hurt. Its what turned me off from LBP...that and the slightly shitty way the controls felt.

        Same. The lack of mouse support in LBP really killed my enthusiasm to get creating. I mean the interface was fine for the PS3 controller, but if you had a mouse it would've been a bit easier and certainly much faster.
