And here we are at the end of another week the biggest news of which was the excessive use of the word "javelin" in non-Olympic sport related stories. I have to admit I've never gotten the extreme to which griefing and glitching grows in game communities. Sure, there's the whole hahaha, wasn't that funny of it but the number of people who seriously get off on screwing up games makes me wonder what the hell.
I think part of the phenomenon comes not from anything to do with the game but the sense of power derived from breaking the rules to put yourself in charge. It is just a game after all so the consequences are what? Nothing really. That unhooks the usual restraints and it's hard to really reestablish them in a virtual world to put things back in balance. Server tools definitely go a long way in cases where you get admins who care enough to manage things by hand. But for the vast majority of open servers across PCs and consoles the hope lies with designers finding a solution to a better self-policing community.

- Homefront isn't even out yet but there's already DLC and a sequel planned

Until this morning.
Hoping that perhaps I had just had bad luck and the AI WASN'T that bad and the bugs weren't so terrible I loaded it up again. 5 minutes into the first level and I'm blown up by my own team mates using a rocket launcher. Considering I've put less than 2 hours into this game and it's about the 8th time I've been team killed by the AI I think I'm just going to throw it in the bin. It's probably up there as one of the worst games I've ever bought and certainly the most disappointing. What a steaming pile.

Alright I think this thing is almost ready to go. What I've done is I've taken every single shack post that is accessible through the shack APIs (thanks to the generous creators) and created a word frequency database. The site is available here:

A couple things to note:
1) Although I am caching the results, this is running on a fairly small and weak virtual slice and the queries used to generate the data take a bit of time (so be patient). If I notice that it's just getting wailed on, I'll probably have to shut it down (at least for a while)
2) You may notice that a lot of the results have a gap around 2004, and 2006. That's when our beloved Steve dropped the server (twice).
3) WORDS WITH NUMBERS DON'T WORK... well, mostly. I am rebuilding now with words that are numbered, underscores, and hyphenated words. Be glad that I'm not checking everything against a dictionary file like my first attempt :P

If I'm saving a system image of a drive, what does that include? Is there any need to also backup data on that drive, or is it all in the system image anyway?
I am in the market for a notebook (my first one) but honestly I don't know wtf. there are just so many and I don't have a clue what graphics cards are good, which brand I want / don't want etc.
I would seriously appreciate any recommendations and/or advice on what to buy.
I can give you a few pointers that maybe make it a bit easier.
- I have a fairly fast pc (quadcore, 4gb ram, geforce 8800gts) but it is in my 'studio' and that's why I want to buy a notebook to use at home. I would mainly use it to surf the internet, watch movies in bed (rawr) and play games like torchlight or so. so it doesn't have to be super mobile (so no netbooks please) but it shouldn't be huge ( 15,6" would be perfect I think) or heavy as a brick. and it would be great if it would be relatively quiet, too. If it is a bit more powerful, so that I could play the occasional game of l4d2 or so I would be more than happy.
- please no glossy display if possible, although I probably could live with it if there is no other option
- no mac please
- operating system doesn't have to be included
- I really don't want to spend more than 1000 € (800 € or so would be great)
I am sorry for the question, because I know how much it sucks but maybe someone of you guys recently bought something similar that he/she could recommend to me? I have the feeling that I would have to spend about two days of internert research before I know what to buy and it would be great if I wouldn't have to do that.

Okay, so a couple months ago I bought a 5870 which came with a DiRT 2 coupon. I used it the day I put my system together and since then, it's showed as Dirt 2 in the list of games. Now, starting on the first DiRT 2 no longer even shows up in my list of games, BUT Steam downloaded and installed it anyways today and it's playable, works fine even though Steam says it's not installed but it is installed.
Anybody else having this issue?

So I just did a fresh install of windows 7 on a new 1T drive. I made the OS partition rather large but now I'm not seeing the unpartitioned space within windows to format it.
How do I fix this?
