Lips Getting New Game in Spring, DLC in December, and a Facebook App
by Jeff Mattas, Dec 03, 2009 5:29pm PSTMicrosoft Game Studios dropped a trio of Lips announcements today. Lips: Party Classics, the next installment in the Xbox 360 exclusive singing-game series developed by iNiS, is set to arrive this coming spring. You won't have to wait all winter without new material, though, as new downloadable tracks are due in December. To top it all off there's also a Facebook application called 'Lips Jukebox' on the way.
According to the press release, Party Classics will include a "...wide selection of 40 peppy, festive, dramatic, and exhilarating songs," including "Love Shack" by The B-52's, "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba, "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, "Rock And Roll All Nite" by KISS, "Wannabe" by Spice Girls, "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany, and "Y.M.C.A." by Village People.
Eclectic December game add-ons for 'Lips' are also in the pipeline, bringing downloadable tracks such as "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone" by The Temptations, "Right Round" by Flo Rida, "Think" by Aretha Franklin, and "Blister In The Sun" by Violent Femmes. Holiday-themed tracks will be available as well, such as "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby, "Santa Baby" by Kylie Minogue and "Hanukkah Blessings" by Barenaked Ladies.
In other 'Lips'-related news, there's also a new free Facebook application called ' Lips Jukebox' that "puts a pair of singing lips on your photos transforming them into a mini music video starring you and your best friends and family." "Barbie Girl" by Aqua and "Love Fool" by The Cardigans are listed as sample song choices. All things considered, it's a pretty clever marketing tool - though I can't help but be reminded of the Twizzlers commercials from the mid-80's.
'Lips: Party Classics' comes out exclusively for the Xbox 360 in Spring of 2010.
