Gratuitous Space Battles Expansion Released

10
Positech has released some non-gratuitous extra Gratuitous Space Battles in a mini expansion pack titled 'The Tribe' for the PC space fleet warfare management sim.

Available direct from Positech for $5.99, The Tribe adds a new race of the same name with eleven new ships which focus on tough hulls and fast repairs, as well as a new kinetic weapon type and two scenarios featuring the "idealistic space-hippies."

A demo for the basic Gratuitous Space Battles is available over on FileShack.

i tried the demo of the original, and as much as i like the concept and art in the follow along tutorial, all the little weapon/etc options/choices/tweaking just seemed overwhelming to the point of me not even wanting to bother with even starting the hands on part of the demo. uninstalled it.

needs to be dumbed down for the masses :)

frigate hull + as many torpedos as you can fit on there = win.

I agree, but after a mission or two it all makes sense. It goes from frustrating to "ah!" I usually picked a laser or two and stuck with it, but by and large you quickly learn what you need to.

hmmm, ok, i might give it another try eventually, i do like space battles, especially if they're gratuitous, so i should be liking this.
