Meet John Marston, the lead character of Rockstar San Deigo's open-world cowboy action game Red Dead Redemption. He's here to capture or kill Bill Williamson. The two go way back--once upon a time, they used to rob trains and banks and the like together.

Powered the same RAGE technology used in Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption is slated to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 27, 2010.

Looks like it will continue to be at the top of my list for next year. The main character looks like some inspiration was drawn from Eastwood's character in High Plains Drifter (a "Rockstar Recommends" pick on their website a few weeks ago, great flick btw). If it's console-only, I really hope they spit-shine that engine to run smooth as hell, playing GTA4 and the episodes on 360 after playing on PC is just really hard to deal with (fuzzy as shit, shockingly low frame rate at times). Regardless of the known issues surrounding the GTA4 PC release, I upgraded my rig just for the game and it was incredible. Looks like RDR is shaping up to be awesome.
