Left 4 Dead 2 Sells Over 2 Million Copies at Retail; Downloadable Content News 'Very Soon'

Valve's multiplayer-centric zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2 has sold "over 2 million retail copies" worldwide since it released on November 17, the developer said today.

"[Left 4 Dead 2] appears to be on target to become one of the top selling Xbox [360] and PC titles for the month of November," reads an announcement sent out by Valve. As the above figure only details sales of physical retail copies, the numbers do not include copies of the game sold through Valve's PC digital distribution platform Steam.

The company added that "sales to date are more than double the original [Left 4 Dead]" and that L4D2 has "already been played by over 1 million Xbox LIVE Gold account holders," with word that "news regarding L4D2 DLC 1 is coming very soon."

There's only one piece of DLC I want: the ability to select any of the L4D1 characters alongside the L4D2 characters, and play in the L4D1 campaigns with the new weapons and new Infected. I will pay good money for this.

Those L4D1 maps are clearly not made for the new infected.

Also, I think there is a hack/mod that brings the old maps on PC.

I am more than willing to pay $5-10 for new campaigns, but what you said should be free since it doesn't really add "new content". In fact, incorporating L4D1 campaigns into L4D2, even if left unchanged, should be accomplished on PC.

Why the hell would you pay for something that should be free?

the old campaigns weren't designed for the new infected, and the characters would need to have a good portion of their dialog redone to interact with the new environments/characters.

that said, i'd love to play as francis in the new campaigns.

Yep, it'll take work to tweak the maps and record new dialogue. Hence why it's worth money to me; I appreciate the effort required to do it right.
