Let me just say this, all the reviewers suck, I was just playing DK Dm and I was running around with a fully upgraded Daikatana and it was the fucking coolest weapon ever... it looked and felt so fucking badass, it has replaced the hardwood as my favorite DK weapon (railgun remains my fave FPS weapon). The reviewers generally bashed the DK, they just didn't understand it. It is so cool to have it grow....

Lots of sites review demos; maybe they shouldn't, but demo reviews didn't start with "Daikatana."

Demo reviews should be given as much credence as sites that have reviews of full games the day the game is released...

I just noticed this at PA (ttp://www.Penny-Arcade.com/) -- looks like Gabe and Tycho have removed themselves from Daily Radar in wake of another review!

Here's what Tycho had to say:

Are there any of you that turn to DR as a major source of news and reviews, forsaking all others? If so, just go to the next paragraph unless you want to get mad. I mean it. Go. Gabriel is not a "hold-back" sort of person. That isn't really how he operates. When he saw the review they had put up of U-571, he wrote this response on the message board. He's right, too - this reviewer and movie are completely mismatched, for the same reasons that I would be a poor choice appraise this movie. Neither of us care that the movie was ever filmed.

Aw, fuck the Daily Radar. It has been a piece of shit since it started and now it has found a way to get people to actually hit its site.

All of its pretty little pictures and slick interface never seemed to work, so they had to pan Daikatana. I doubt those retards didn't even get around to play the demo.

By the way, the demo rocks. Sure, it uses a slightly dated engine, but who gives a crap? Nobody complains when Rainbow Six or Aliens vs Predator uses an engine that is not up to par with Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament. How the Daily Radar or any of you can completely trash this is way beyond me. Granted, Daikatana is never going to live up to the hype-machine that the Ion Storm execs created, but then again - no game can live up to that much hype. It looks like it will combine old-school D&D type game with the traditional first person shooter, both of which I know more than some of you like.

despite what anyone says, i just finished the demo and really enjoyed it. I liked that frisbee blade thing (forgot the name).... THAT was fucking cool. Daikatana has originality, despite the aged engine, bad press, etc etc, i STILL like it. I was one of the people Romero mailed (in the topic) and that ALONE earns my respect. Much less a game I can get into. I liked Soldier of Fortune, I liked Thief 2, I liked Kingpin, I liked Half Life, and I like "The Daikatana" Sure, the enemies are annoying, Mechanical Frogs? OF COURSE! I was very annoyed by them! thats what got me into the game even more because the goddamn frogs, or mini-spiders pissed me off so bad.

sheesh, we all have our opinions, but i think daikatana will do well in the long run, personally.

Oh, I've been told that SS2 is an RPG with a FPS game perspective. LMAO!

That is like saying "Anything more than pushing buttons or levers, picking up keys, or breaking glass... is an RPG!"

No wonder the fucking single player FPS genre' has gone stale in a fucking hurry!

Push that button when the AI tells ya. Pick up that key when the music keys up. Is this what the single player FPS has become? Nothing more than DOOM? With 1/2 witted bull shit like DK, the FPS genre' can never be more than 1/2 Lamda or DOOM.

PS: Multiplayer in the MPlayer demo from a year ago was about ten times more fun than the MP in this new demo...I NEVER thought I'd be saying that...

Having their site linked in Romero's plan was probably the best thing ever to happen to Daily Radar. I've never visited their site, but I felt compelled to see what got the Romero to throw a hissy-fit.

THIS is EXACTLY why DR wrote a scathing review of the demo. To stir up controversy, conversely increasing their hits. Its a crappy tactic that a LOT of sites employ. Think back to all those "UT vs. Q3" articles...none of them really had and journalistic merit, and none of them were really objective or useful..they were just written to piss fans of either game off, start huge flame wars, and INCREASE HITS. DR is laughing right now...in a few weeks, when DaiK is panned by the big gaming sites around, nobody will remember Romero's complaints about DR. Nobody will remember how lame it is to review a demo in lieu of the full version(why is this lame as long as you keep the demo and the game separate?). In the end, DR will have a TON of hits and will come through unscathed, and Romero won't get the sympathy he so desparately need.

I love watching public opinions sway...people jumping on one bandwagon after another, backlashes, when one wagon is full, people jump ship and hop on the next one to roll by.

I don't like the Daikatana demo, multiplayer was horrible, and if these reviews can warn some kid on a 56k not to waste his time, great.

The full version could be cool, but I'd be wary based on the demo.

Daikatana is the biggest train-wreck in recent memory, good game or not.

Isn't a demo supposed to be like a movie preview? Shouldn't it make you want to buy the game, by showing off the best parts, or at least as many as possible?

The argument "the full version will have more content" doesn't wash.

when i said 'i think daikatana will do well' i didnt mean it will sell millions and billions of copies
but i DO think we will see alot of cool user levels/mods etc.

this is also one of the few games that are coming out WITH COOP MODE
i think that is the funnest fucking thing since peanut butter and jelly (dont ask why i think pb&j is fun)

look at www.doomnation.com and www.doomworld.com, it has a small cult following.... now try to remember the last time DOOM was in the news more than 3 days in a row (im not talking about palm pilot doom)... i honestly think thats how daikatana will turn out, there will be maps made for it, and multi play IS fun. :)
