Rock Band DLC Brings Nirvana and Night Ranger; Franchise Surpasses 1,000 Songs

With the United States celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, developer Harmonix has announced next week's batch of Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and LEGO Rock Band downloadable content a bit earlier than the usual Friday.

Among the week's tunes are contradictory anthems "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" and "You're Gonna Hear It From Me," with each song carrying the usual price of $2 / 160 Microsoft Points / 200 Wii Points and three-track bundles at $5.50 / 440 MS Points.

The following will hit Xbox 360 and Wii on December 1, then PS3 on December 3:

  • Nirvana - "Come As You Are (Live from MTV Unplugged)" +
  • Nirvana - "Lithium (Live at Reading)"
  • Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
  • Night Ranger - "(You Can Still) Rock in America" +
  • Night Ranger - "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" +
  • Night Ranger - "You're Gonna Hear It From Me" +

    Tracks marked "+" will also hit the family-friendly LEGO Rock Band Store.

According to Harmonix, "there are now 1,007 tracks available to date via disc and download purchase" for the Rock Band franchise, with a full listing here.

In addition, the company noted that released Rock Band downloadable content for 105 consecutive weeks now--over two years--and provided this stat breakdown:

      Yeah I don't get it - I mean on some level it would sort of make sense to play your swan song close to the vest but come on, this is Rock Band, it's not like you're going to make more money.

      Maybe that's it, Harmonix won't pay what these guys are demanding for the big song or they're in negotiations to put it in the next RB game or whatever.

      Maybe they decided it wasn't "Lego" compatible and they were looking for Lego tracks.

      Of course, Sister Christian seems like it should be plenty Lego friendly to me.

      It would have been entirely appropriate to use the same adjective had "Sister Christian" actually been included.
