Mass Effect 2's DRM will be "a basic disk check" without online authentication, though BioWare notes digital distributors will of course have their own methods of protection.
Mass Effect 2 arrives for PC and Xbox 360 on January 26, 2010, accompanied by a Collector's Edition with goodies including in-game items, a comic and an art book.

So far I haven't seen a game I couldn't run since Crysis came out.

Man, that game was amazing. I could have done without 10 hours of Citadel quests before I set off to explore the galaxy but it was just so good. I don't think there has ever been a game as cinematic as Mass Effect was. After getting control of the Normandy and being told it is my ship and getting to tell a speech was the most cinematic thing I've ever seen.
As the music swelled up and I watched all my crew mates reactions to this morale boosting speech I literally had a giant smile on my face and felt I was in command.
The only downfall of that game was exploration really felt forced like you didn't have much of anything to do on each planet. That and the instant kill snipers that plagued the entire galaxy. The game owned so hard though and I can't wait for this one.
I just wish they had a sexy cute side kick rather than the bitch covered in tattoos. I have enough of those in my life.

Day 1 buy for me like Dragon Age.

As such, DRM does not affect my purchase decisions. I will be buying ME2 day-one or via pre-order if Steam has it with extra loot thrown in like with the Digi. Deluxe Edition of Dragon Age.

Disc check kinda blows...I like not having to think about discs at all once it is installed.

Intrusive DRM only pisses off the people that actually buy your product.

Also, I'm still rather shocked they're making it for PC as well! I had to wait like a year for the last one.
Does Mass Effect use SSE2 as a CPU requirement? Dragon Age runs quite well at low settings on my PC, and I'd love to give Mass Effect a try. But the sys req are lower on the Dragon Age box than the original Mass Effect box.

Also, I can never tell if "recommended" means it'll run on highest settings well, or if it'll just run well on mediumish settings.

Let's see if I find time to go through the first title before they release this.
