Evening Reading: Faylure Averted

I was rather worried today wouldn't bring anything on par with yesterday's Mass: We Pray trailer, but it seems my concerns were misplaced. Good show, Pringles Asia.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to hunt down some form of sustenance before hunkering down for tonight's Left 4 Dead 2 session. But first, a look at today's top stories:

By the way, CNN wants you to know that Barack Obama can indeed answer questions. Meanwhile, it seems that computers can now think like cats.

Quick look around at the usual sites seems to indicate that that's the cheapest you can buy it here without a game! Even with shipping it should be around $430 which is still awesome.

Tempting, my one is running hot now in summer and the fan is turning on HIJACK does anyones PS3 Slim have the fan whirr up in the hot? I know the fat it's rare but 2 years on and in summer, she's turning on frequently in Uncharted 2! :(

What do I do? Will a slim be quieter? It's in a smaller package so less space = more heat :(
Also I'd miss the buttons from the old one so much :(

but slim uses a die-shrink so uses less power, from wp
"The PS3 slim (officially called the PS3 CECH-2000) features an upgradeable 120GB hard drive and is 33% smaller, 36% lighter, and consumes 34% less power than previous model"

I know it has the die shrink but logic dictates a die shrink, with the same cooling equipment and case = cooler system - even less fan
However, die shrink, smaller case, smaller heatsink may (?) mean it still can run a bit toasty.
I only care about noise :(

UGH. A quick internets search got this a few times.
"It seems to be 50/50 whether you have a quiet or noisy PS3 Slim."

ARGH - I'm tempted to grab one anyhow, just for a fresh warranty.

If you are buying retail you probably wont find a better deal any time soon.

If you are getting a second hand one off ebay or something i would hold out ofr a better deal.
