Weekly PC Sales: Left 4 Dead by Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age, Borderlands and Torchlight
by Chris Faylor, Nov 18, 2009 2:20pm PSTUpdate: According to Big Download and Blue's News, Left 4 Dead 2 pre-orders were listed as Steam's second top-grossing game for the week of 11/8 - 11/14, though it seems that listing disappeared after the game launched on November 17.
Original: The week before Left 4 Dead 2's release curiously saw Valve's zombie shooter get left behind by digital customers, as online pre-orders for the sequel slipped from the number three spot on Steam's top ten to, well, a position not listed on the chart.
Unsurprisingly, sales juggernaut Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 topped Steam's charts, with Direct2Drive, which refuses to sell MW2, seeing Dragon Age reign again.

AAA titles only get made for consoles, and PC enthusiasts will have to suffer for it. Studios like Lucasarts will continue to abandon the PC platform entirely (except for excursions into MMO land). How long do we have, I wonder?

The first one was ridiculously scarce on content as well as armaments and this one doesn't look much better.
I bought the first one, but after playing through it a few times I realize it wasn't even worth the money. I had hoped for a 'actual' survivor FPS, not walking through a linear level with scripted zombies. The zombie director was a bunch of BS too.
Someone needs to make a good open world zombie shooter.

A) If a company makes good money on a game I really enjoy, I'm happy. I'm not going to get defencive if it's not number 1.
B) Valve games have a tradition of being much longer-tailed in sales than other so-called "AAA" titles.
C) People generally have bad taste. WoW, Solitare, and Wii Fit are absurdly popular.

Even the most addicted players I know have started to drop out of the game (until patch 3.3 in two weeks)
