Just Cause 2 Media Grapples With Gameplay

I want to think this game will be awesome so badly, but if the original Just Cause is anything to go by we expect a a buggy game that will never get a patch.

This may just be me playing Devil's advocate, however, the gun play to me looks underwhelming. The same grapple scenarios can be seen repeated several times within the first 2 minutes and sure it opens your mind to do even crazier things like latching a baddie onto a passing plane, or better yet one of those pressurized containers that were flying around in game. But to me that gun play needs to be visceral and feel weighty. That and the AI you're facing should be formidable at least. These guys look halfway retarded. Does the graphics and environment look amazing? Absolutely. But that solid gameplay "feeling" just has to be there and it seems lacking in this video. The deaths are heaves with the grappling hook are floaty, might be fun for a videogame but it looks awkward. This isn't Spiderman where you air juggle a guy with a 20 hit combo, nor do I think it should look like it. There's seemingly no animations for when guys are shot or shot at, only when they die, and even then it's just straight to ragdoll. To me it seems they have loads to learn about attention to detail from Rockstar and the GTA series. Which should be making a move to more interactive environments while I'm on the subject..

It's amazing what 10 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay can show.

(I am still sad that it apparently lacks co-op, but I am much closer to overlooking that detail.)

Damn! That looks sweet! I just hope that they do justice to the PC version and it dosn't end up being another crappy port........

Looks like GTA, set in a war type setting, with a grapple and infinite parachute. I'm sold, point me to where I leave the money...

I hadn't really been following this game but after watching this I'm going to pick up a copy. They do what looks to be some really cool stuff in this, and the bit where he grappled someone onto an acetylene tank and then sent the tank rocketing up was funny as hell.

this looks fun, I might have to get it :(
