102
As promised mere moments ago, Gearbox has released the v1.01 patch for Borderlands PC, with the 184MB update now available for your perusal on FileShack.

The update includes several notable tweaks for the shooter-RPG, including the addition of volume controls to voice chat, word that leaving a co-op game will no longer wipe your proficiency progress, and a refunding of any character's lost skill points.

  • Characters that have lost skill points will have the lost points refunded
  • Clients will no longer lose proficiency progress upon leaving a co-op game
  • Item cards now display the intended five lines of detail text
  • Lilith's Phase strike and melee attacks from Phase Walk now function as intended
  • Voicechat: users can now control volume and individually mute players
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused CL4P-TP to stop progressing during the introduction
  • Server browser population times have been improved
  • Server information should now always display the correct plot mission
  • Benchmarking feature now works as intended
  • Nvidia 3D Vision visuals now render shadows correctly (requires minimum 195.28 drivers, available from nVidia)

Granted, I see why its important to focus on the bug fixes that make the game unplayable for some and get it out the door, but still I can't help but hide my disappointment that is the PC version of Borderlands, their design decisions, and the blantant lies consumers were fed.

it's a pretty big pile of shit and it's important to remember things like this and vote with your wallet in the future

          Oh yes, I agree.

Due to the whole debacle with 2K's release dates, and the broken promise of Borderlands being PC-centric, I doubt I'll be buying future games, either developed by Gearbox or published by 2K.

If Gearbox gets their act in order (and Pitchford on a lead, seriously. At this point he's just entertainment to laugh at), I might reconsider their games, but 2K on the other hand...

I really enjoy the game... the UI sucks, but that's what happens when you try to make everything Gamepad friendly. I'd buy a sequel and put up with the interface annoyances to enjoy the core of the game.

The UI isn't great, but I don't consider it a huge hindrance. Maybe because I work with awful software nearly all day.

That's the sad thing it doesn't need fancy exclusive features for PC, but just some basic things that shoul'd work like a PC Gamer expects it to work, the same as a Console Gamer has the right to expect the same for his Platform.

Exposing of Options(variables) and a UI that takes advantage of given Platform, is it that hard to realize? (Actually the Answer is no.)
Yeah it does cost some money to show to the consumer(It should be pretty high on a priority list to make a consumer happy.) that some love got into specific Platform.

You know it's the little things that makes you love a game not just the Big MustGoIn Feature Checklist ...just IMHO of course...

As for bugs i don't have to bitch about that, because no one is flawless, but if the Game sells, then fix the problems as best you can afford(Yeah Time is still Money.) and the average Consumer shoul'd be happy. (You know the biggest crythroats (Please enlighten my with the right word for that, my english knowledge is still at a basic level.) are mostly a minority.

DId they even add mousewheel to the menus yet? Or do we have to use UNIX Vi editor controls to navigate the text?
