Dante's Inferno Anime Trailer Depicts Hell

"A breathtaking new vision of Dante Alighieri's medieval classic" is promised in this trailer for the animated companion to poem-inspired video game Dante's Inferno.

Packing "6 terrifying visions of Hell" from "6 acclaimed international directors" and said to "explore aspects of the poem that the game does not," the animated feature is due on Blu-ray and DVD at some point during the month of February. Visceral's sinful action game, meanwhile, arrives on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PSP come February 9.

Having not read the books or seen anything related to this, I can say that looks awesome. I just don't understand people sometimes. It's like people who came out of Lord of the Rings and said it sucked because the book was better. Jesus Christ. Slap a different name on this like Joe's Bad Place and everyone would think it was cool. Get over yourselves.

I know they're trying to take the action crown from the God of War series which is wrapping up come part 3. I still can't help but feel that this concept of journeying through the layers of hell is wasted on a beat em up action game. I kind of wish this had been an RPG, open world roamer like Fallout 3 filled with weird locales and strange inhabitants.

Also, Dante's design doesn't look too hot. He looks like an early rejected concept of Kratos.

I'm glad EA is really trying hard to develop these new IP's. I personally am more interested in this than God of War 3. I hope this does better than Dead Space and Mirror's Edge, EA needs to be rewarded for it's new direction, otherwise they'll have to go back to what Activision is now just to stay afloat.

ya, this does look nice indeed and Im really glad its not CGI. I dunno... it seems ive gotten very bored with everything in movies and animation being CGI. I watched Fright Night over Halloween and near the end those effects are f'n brutal and nothing is CG. As well as the oldschool animation, all the old hand animated Anime seems to be much better than most of the newer stuff from 2000 and beyond.

I remember reading Dante's Inferno in English class like four years ago and thinking to myself at the time, "Man, this would make an awesome move..." All of the descriptions of things in the story are so rich and the imagery so vivid. I was thinking live action and CGI at the time, but this is probably more fitting. :-)

Wow I really like how visceral adds in the anime as well as the game. Sorta like what they did with Dead space. Even though that anime was drawn to s@&#. This one looks way more promising!
