Command & Conquer Red Alert Arrives on iPhone

Having just barely missed its expected October release, the iPhone and iPod touch entry in EA's Command & Conquer Red Alert series is now available via iTunes.

Priced at $9.99, the touch-controlled strategy game includes a 12-map single-player campaign and a Skirmish mode. Multiplayer will be added later in a free update.

Additional content will be sold in-game as paid downloads. The first expansion, dubbed "Assault Pack," adds six new Skirmish maps for $0.99 and is now available.

An "Empire of the Rising Sun" expansion is also in the works, said to deliver "a third faction with its own story, units and buildings for an additional low price."

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Anyone try this out yet? Yes, I've always been a C&C and especially RA fan but not sure whether to think this will be awesome or pure cash-in.

I was really doubting this, but looking at the screen shots it actually looks a pretty reasonable touch-based interface.

Looks can be, and with EA usually are, fairly deceiving!

Also waiting on reviews before buying this for a Tough that isn't even mine, haha.

Cause I'm that much of a C&C fanboy.

        Long Live WW!
