SOCOM 3 PSP Delayed Due to Marketing

Slant Six's squad shooter sequel SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3 (PSP), once due this year, is now slated to hit North American shops on January 12, 2010. The developer had revealed a November 24 release date weeks ago, though the announcement was rather quickly removed with no explanation.

On the PlayStation.Blog, producer Mark Rogers explained that though "development is on schedule and we are extremely pleased with all aspects of the title," global marketing issues necessitated a delay to "allow time to get the word out to everyone."

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Miss the holiday buying season to step up marketing efforts? Are they INSANE? You know if you started marketing oh say, around NOW, I think the buying public would be aware of the games existence by the time it hits the shelves. And it would sell even if it's no good cuz why not have something new to play on your PSP when visting Grams over the holidays right? I realize this is just marketing BS to cover the fact that the title isn't done but they must know most folks will see right through it or think they are idiots (I'm doing a bit of both).

As for the actual game I'm cautiously looking forward to it. The first two were pretty fun (tho too repetitive and the graffix were a bit weak) and this one looks to be a big visual improvement (although they could be bullshots).
