Grand Theft Auto 4 'Gay Tony' Trailer: Meet Luis

With Grand Theft Auto IV's downloadable "Ballad of Gay Tony" expansion hitting Xbox 360 tomorrow, developer Rockstar wants you to meet new protagonist Luis Lopez.

"Gay Tony" will be available as a 1600 MS Point ($20) download for those that own Grand Theft Auto IV. It will also be on the Xbox 360-only "Episodes From Liberty City" disc, where it's playable without a copy of GTA4. Both disc and download are due tomorrow.

Looks like a generic latino thug and sounds like a mediocre Scarface impersonator. Great. Of all the stories they could have told, Packie and his brothers, Dwayne, etc. They choose to have you play as a character who has almost no involvement in IV's story and then they have you working for a flamboyantly gay nightclub owner and his equally flamboyant friends. (None of whom have any relation to IV or any other GTA stories)

What?

It seems like Rockstar is turning GTA into a comedy with the Yusuf Amir and Robot Bubblegum trailers. What are they thinking? These are CRIME games, keep the terrible, juvenille jokes/characters to a minimum.

I'd like to see the next Fallout or Oblivion adopt some of GTA IV's style, especially with DLC expansions like this where you play from a different perspective instead of always the nameless, hero, destined saviour of the world. How about playing as an Enclave soldier or Super Mutant for a few mini missions?
