Shack PSA: Modern Warfare 2 on Amazon Includes $20 Game Credit
by Alice O'Connor, Oct 22, 2009 10:41am PDTAmazon is offering a $20 voucher for future video games purchases from the retailer with copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The offer includes both the $60 regular edition and $80 'Hardened' edition--packing an art book and code for the upcoming downloadable release of the original Call of Duty.
While this offer sadly does not cover the $150 night vision goggle and plastic head-toting Prestige Edition, a $10 voucher is included with the Xbox 360 version only.
Infinity Ward's shooter sequel arrives November 10, with the PC version controversially not supporting dedicated servers. Thanks to Shacker kungfusquirrel for the tip.

1. There are other ways to (attempt to) solve piracy and is it really that hard to allow both experiences to customers (simple online matchmaking as well as dedicated servers/server browsing)
2. Are we really at the end of the curve where there's no more value in the hardcore few who make maps, mods & run servers to keep games alive long after their release. Does user made content really compete with DLC? Aren't there other ways to support and work with game communities where they can actually help drive use and revenue of the game? I realize 14 million copies of the first game were sold, but of that number how many were really playing 6 or 12 months online after release? It is so hard to get paying customers these day, let alone RABID fanboism that this seems like the very best way to alienate them.

i dont buy games at amazon so the credit won't really be all that useful. if it was $20 credit for anything at amazon i'd do it.
