by Nick Breckon, Oct 20, 2009 6:00pm PDTCurrently adjusting to my first pair of glasses. I guess this is what happens when you get old. At least now I have a valid excuse for sucking at games. Also, a valid excuse to not get punched.

A company I help out is currently using SugarCRM on Linux, and want a more sophisticated portal, ecommerce functionality and to built our their custom developed CRM solution. They like the look of DotNetNuke because they want to move to an MS platform and like the look of the add-in modules (workflow, etc).
Any recommendations, or dislike for it? Ever work with any other similar products you liked? This seems like the sort of thing where I'd ask ten different nerds and get ten different answers, but I'm curious as to what's out there.

This is weird. Evidence:
1) There's going to be a Kane and Lynch film
2) Bruce Willis signed on as Kane

That said, I've never lost significant weight without exercise but then maybe it was the life style change in general that had more impact. That said, I may talk to my doctor about my options since I haven't been able to really exercise for the past couple of years.

In Space
As the darkness draws in and the last days creep ever closer, we're joined by 2K Marin's Steve Gaynor for a rousing discussion of video games in the outer reaches of space. While there, we discuss the PS3's recent trips to polar opposites of the hand-holding spectrum, lament the disappearance of Modern Warfare 2's dedicated servers, and are paid a surprise visit by an asshole.
Bobby Kotick?

The game had so many races to play as which used completely different strategies. Also, your hero gained levels as you played games. If that wasn't enough, you can pick the path of your hero, the spell path, and what spells in that path to learn. It was epic and deep.
The best part was you could play on some extreme mode which gave you double the XP per game, but if your hero died, they died forever. This made me focus on every game so that my hero would never come into harms way but still supported my army. Always went great until the enemy assassin hero showed up and 1 shot assassinated my hero :(
Anyone else have good fond memories of lesser known games?

Been awhile since I wrote anything heavy, but I picked up the guitar the other day and got something started. Figured I'd share and perhaps get some feedback.

I didn't like it at first and though there are still plenty of Family Circus moments, I've really started to like it. I'm not sure if it was character development or what, but it's a pretty good show. Now I'm even that much more upset The Cleveland Show exists.

I'm building my roommate a desktop and was wondering how this build looks. He had A wishlist going but was kinda aimless with it and I threw this together for him tonight at his request.
I think it looks alright, but maybe theres some more cost effective parts I missed?

Sweet! This whole season just got kicked up a notch.
Up until now Dexter didn't give a shit what was going on with the whole Lundy/Deb/Trinity/etcetc plotline, but now it's personal. Not saying that Trinity is responsible for the shooting, but that doesn't matter.
Deb is fucking annoying, but she serves the purpose of bringing out the human side of Dexter, which I'm sure we're about to see.

Yeah I guess I'm dead inside because it didn't really creep me out at all. I can understand why I is scary I guess but I saw most things coming long before they happened which minimized any effect it would have had.
I do have one question though about the ending. Not sure if it was the theater fucking up or not but does it end immediately after **MASSIVE SPOILERS** she lunges for the camera? In my showing some blurb popped up saying his body was found and she was still at large and then something about no relation to actual persons or events ... and then nothing. Like the screen stayed black, no house lights came, no credits, nothing. Eventually some "Following movie is rated R" screen came up and some music that was completely inappropriate for the movie started playing (like, up beat party style music) so I just left figuring it was some technical fuck up.

-Co-op is insane, there's a ton of people and monsters running around everywhere and it's hard to tell what's going on half the time
-Ammo is very annoying, I ran out of it several times while playing and 4 player co-op doesn't help since the ammo doesn't scale up very well
-The "loot" ends up being pretty decent. Guns, shields, and grenades all litter the ground and sometimes it's hard to keep up with what you have.
-The story just seems to get in the way, especially Ms. holographic lady who takes the place of Cortana, but is ugly and annoying.
-The enemy variety is low, if amusing. Having a flaming midget psycho run at me wielding an axe is something new.
95% of the game though is shooting things inna face! I'm not sure what to make of the AI, but with how the game works it's not really important. Haven't come across any terrible bugs like, sigh, Breckon did but I can see why he didn't think it was that great. If you want to spend several hours shooting crazy things that run at you then its fun, as it certainly does that well. If your expecting anything different at all though I'd say there are plenty of other game either out or coming out.

The deal has been extended through Oct 25 so if you have any interest in this game and would like to get it for whatever price you feel is fair, have at it.
I need a laptop. I'm going to be on the move soon and still need to get work done. The work I'll be doing? Making and designing games. So, I need a laptop that can modern games right now, like Dragon Age, which I'll mostly be working with, and other such game creation programs, like Unity. Do you guys have any suggestions on a good laptop for me to purchase? I'm looking for a slightly reasonable price, and no macs.
