Panzer General: Allied Assault, Tower Bloxx Deluxe Hitting Xbox Live Arcade This Week

4
Arriving on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday will be Petroglyph's turn-based strategy-collectible card game hybrid Panzer General: Allied Assault and a port of PC tower-building puzzler Tower Bloxx Deluxe, priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10) apiece.

Spawn of the classic PC strategy series Panzer General, Allied Assault sports online multiplayer and such WW2 battles as Utah Beach, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. A board game is also in the works, due to arrive in January 2010.

I didn't think that this was so much of an update to the Panzer General series as it is a new game, which is also being made in boardgame form.

There was this ancient squad-level, turn-based WW2 strategy game for the Atari 800 called Squad Leader where you played the game on a board with pieces but calculations(line of sight, firepower, casualties, etc) were handled by the computer. I would buy it in a second if they gave it the same treatment as they did with Panzer General. Just some kind of charm in using board pieces(even virtual ones) instead of having fancy motion-captured animations.
