'Scott Pilgrim' Video Game Due Next Summer
by Chris Faylor, Oct 16, 2009 11:30am PDTWhile we still don't know what platforms Ubisoft's Scott Pilgrim game will hit or how it will play, creator Bryan Lee O'Malley has revealed one very important tidbit: it's due next summer.
"Can't tell you much about SP game yet," reads a tweet from O'Malley, who both writes and illustrates the titular comic. "Not out til next summer. Mustn't blow our wad early. When you hear who's involved, you'll freak!"
In a separate update, he added "we're trying to make this game seriously awesome." O'Malley previously noted that "a lot of the same people" who worked on Game Boy Advance beat 'em up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are involved.
The comic, set to conclude next year with the sixth volume, tells of Scott Pilgrim's battles against his girlfriend's seven evil exes alongside countless gaming references, from background gags to key plot devices. A film is also due next year, directed by Shaun of the Dead's Edgar Wright and starring Arrested Development's Michael Cera.
