Fist of the North Star Game 'Hokuto Musou' Announced

Face-exploding manga and anime Fist of the North Star is to be recreated in 'Hokuto Musou' for on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, KOEI has announced.

"Like a hammer of justice," surly Kenshiro will beat his way through a post-apocalyptic wasteland in search of his lady love Yuria, with a fighting technique so powerful it can "bring down whole buildings" and cause enemies to "violently explode on screen."

KOEI says producer Hisashi Koinuma--previously producer on Dynasty Warriors: Gundam--"promises to be faithful to the spirit of the original manga," with the story mode following the series then a "completely new storyline" arriving in a separate mode.

Hokuto Musou is scheduled for a Japanese release in 2010. KOEI has yet to announce a release elsewhere, though we hope they will consider Malcolm McDowell when casting voice actors, to reprise his role from the awful, awful 1995 live-action movie.

      I'm in SHOCK!

I saw a video of some of the gameplay that was shown at the press event, and I thought it looked servicable but not spectacular. I'll be interested to see how the final product looks. Regardless, I'll be importing the hell out of this when it inevitably fails to come stateside.

That wasn't true for Namco Bandai's "Idolmaster," which was even exclusive to 360... although I think we dodged a bullet there.
