Gran Turismo 5 Screenshots: Greater Than, or Equal to, Reality
by Nick Breckon, Oct 12, 2009 1:20pm PDT"'Better than reality' -- yeah, that's one way of putting it," said Gran Turismo 5 creator Kazunori Yamauchi in describing his game during a recent interview. "We seldom have the opportunity to see what we consider 'reality' under the best and most aesthetically pleasing conditions."
Who knew that Gran Turismo would take a step forward not only in graphics, but in the philosophical debate over reality itself? Ponder the nature of existence, young Sartres, while gazing upon the following brand-new video game screenshots.

That's all well and good as far as cool screenshots go, and essential when promoting a game (yes, lying is a big part of promoting), but when creating a 'simulator' they better have more than good (great) graphics. Although I'm not really sure why I'm saying this because I play on a PC, where the image isn't a jagged mess.
Things that would make it better would be higher quality methods of doing what its already doing and thats about it. Like raytracing for lighting, AA, framerate, shadows etc... of course textures and methods of doing a certain task will always improve with time/hardware but it looks really good for PS3 capable hardware and very real.
I dun think realistic racers are gonna improve much more visually. I mean theres always higher textures/overkill stuff like running 3840X2160 with like 64X AA and AF, but will you really notice?
You could drop some 4X AA on those shots and would hardly be able to tell a difference.
Look at GT4 on PS2 compared to this, its looks almost as good minus the higher resolutions.

That fanboy article is tripe, "With Forza 3 Motorsport reviews out today, we felt it was only fair to give Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of its main competitor Gran Turismo 5, a chance to talk about his game and he didn’t hold back."
Stop whoring out to PD and trying to boost visitors now gamer. PD need to deliver something for them to be even worth talking to in the first place. 5 years to get GT on the PSP and now GT5 is allegedly in the first half of '10.
My PS3 is waiting for some GT love and the best they can do is Prologue and bullsh!t "interviews".
