I only have the option of playing in offline mode. I kind of wish I could see the other phantoms and see the notes and stuff, but god damn I love this game. I'm having a blast just farming 1-1. I would like to get some new armor for my wanderer guy though. Is there any lighter armor to be found in 1-2?

I wandered around in the castle, and I got to the point where the BIG BIG GATE is opened (the one right in front of the starting area) and i'm afraid to go cause i have 3500 souls. i went in the nexus, repaired all my stuff, upgraded my lance. can't spend more souls, can't "secure" them. i'm 90% sure i'll die at the boss too :( i'm scared.

Easy Dragon Roost Raid
Not sure if anyone's posted this, but here's how I easily looted the red dragon's roost in the first world.
1. Beat the Phalanx Boss.
2. Use the Phalanx's Archstone to return to the Nexus. Take care of business there.
3. Warp to world 1-2.
4. Go to the dragon's roost. He'll be busy attacking battlements far away from home; all you'll have to do is make your way to the roost.
Loot found: Flame shield; Ring of Great Strength (boost item equip stat); souls. -

I believe npc's respawn in newgame+'s. At least I've heard the shopkeepers do so I assume he'd be no different.
At least I hope this is the case because my friend saved him and god a telescope from him and I instinctively kicked his ass with my bow from a distance because he looked terrifying like every other enemy.

Help Killing an Archfiend: How do I kill Miralda the Executioner?
I've just killed the 1-2 boss (Tower Knight; so, so stressful and exhilarating!) but am unable to pass through the curtain of fog in his area because I haven't killed an Archfiend.
I recently discovered the side passage in the first part of the 1-1 area, where a zombie/goblin (whatever they are) comes from to attack the player. The gate's now inexplicably open, so I ventured back there, killed the glowing red zombies/imps, but got owned by Miralda the Executioner.
I presume she's an Archfiend, and killing her will allow me to progress through the fog in the Tower Knight's area. But I need tips for fighting her because she's fast and strong and mean.-
She's not an Archfiend :(
I run a heavy melee character, and I had to bait her into swinging her axe while I backed up. Lock onto her (R3) and then just towards and immediately away when she starts swinging that axe of hers. When she finishes her swing, give her a fast jab or a Soul Arrow. Also, I kited her up and down and around the platforms in the place where she spawns.
She's a tough one, good luck.-

"Kite", as how I'm using it, means "don't make it a standup fight." In other words, always be backing up or circle-strafing around the target, staying just outside of their weapon range. When the target takes a swing at you, there's usually a short period of lag where their defenses are down and you can get one to two hits in. So the basic idea is to wait for them to attack, either block it or avoid it (not rolling though, that takes too much time), and then move into your weapon range while their defenses are down. I've had fantastic success with this strategy and 2-handers (Claymores, Great Swords, etc.).
Also, the World 2 Arch is the one immediatly past the World 1 Arch. It's the Stonefang Tunnel.

I'm still finding the Tower Knight to be pretty damn difficult. It's not that I don't know how to beat him - I've done it in spirit form assisting someone else in their world to get my body back....but when it's just me I find that if he gets you close and knocks you down he'll fuck you up and you won't have time to heal....he just takes so much damage per hit. I'm playing a soldier with a Knight's Shield +1 and Scimitar +1 and I a) take a lot of damage from him and b) am pretty slow. I did aquire soul arrow but I try shooting it at him and it does no dmg. Do I switch targets to his feet?

I'd drop some equipment to get your equipped burden to half (or less). This allows you to run and dodge significantly faster, helping you stay behind him for much of the fight.
Took me two tries once I did this on my knight. He's slow enough to make dodging his stuff pretty easy, once you're more mobile.
