New Prince of Persia Title Trademarked
by Nick Breckon, Oct 07, 2009 11:32am PDTPrince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner has filed a new gaming-related trademark for "Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands."
The filing was noticed by Superannuation, which also took note of an Ubisoft character modeler that recently listed his current job as "working on the new Prince of Persia."
Mechner has not dabbled in video games since 2003's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. More recently, Mechner penned the screenplay for the movie adaptation of Sands, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and is set for release in May 2010.
Due to the upcoming film--and the shared word of "Sands" in the titles--many internet sleuths are speculating that the new Prince of Persia game will be tied to the movie in some way. Niether Ubisoft or Mechner have officially commented on the purported project.

Concerning the platforming, say what you want about the "not dying" system but I for one enjoy not having the atmosphere shattered by menus or the gameplay interrupted by loading times. Not having to worry about checkpoints or losing your progress constantly allowed me to enjoy what was actually happening more.
If you're really so attached to that artificial form of difficulty, make a saved game somewhere and reload it every time Elika has to rescue you. That's how most games do it.

But The Sands of Time is awesome. Another game like that would be awesome.
