Borderlands PC System Requirements Released, Steam Pre-order Knocks $5 Off
by Chris Faylor, Oct 02, 2009 4:00pm PDTThough the PC release of Borderlands isn't due until October 26--a week after the PlayStaiton 3 and Xbox 360 editions--digital distribution outlet Steam is looking to make the wait a little easier on your wallet by knocking 10% off PC pre-orders.
That brings the price of Gearbox's shooter-RPG down from $50 to $45 on the PC--$15 cheaper than the $60 console editions. Of course, you'll need to make sure your rig can run it--thankfully, the developer passed along these system requirements.
OS: Windows XP/VistaProcessor: 2.4 Ghz or equivalent processor
Memory: 1GB System RAM (2GB recommended with Vista)
Graphics: 256mb video ram or better (GeForce 8 series or higher/Radeon R8xx series)
Hard Drive: 8 GB or more free space
Sound: Windows compatible sound card
New video game releases of 2/13-2/19
Indie Jeff's Weekly Pick: Gunpoint

From ennui, the community manager on Gearbox's Forums:
I just asked our Marketing VP (Steve), and these are not the official requirements. We haven't released the official requirements, so these are probably just an approximation.
It's still a fair guess that if you can play other Unreal 3 engine games decently, Borderlands should run just fine.

I haven't heard any of my game-playing coworkers talk about this at all, and actually I've found myself having to introduce it to them with them scratching their heads over it (the same people who were raving about Fallout 3 months before its release). Seems like right now the only crowd that even knows about it are people that closely follow game news on magazines and the internet, and that's pretty scary considering we're less than a month away now. It SHOULD be starting to enter mainstream gamer social circles at this point.
