Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Trailer Talks Keeping It Real

by Alice O'Connor, Oct 02, 2009 1:35pm PDT

Authenticity is the subject of a new Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising developer diary, with the Codemasters gang detailing their quest for realism in everything from the tactical shooter's vehicle handling and paint jobs to motion capture and seeping blood.

Dragon Rising is released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 6.

  • Looks pretty damn awesome. Just the fact that you can shoot someone in the leg and their ability to move is affected is great in my book. OFP did this too and it added just that touch of realism that made it a cut above other games. I wish games like Crysis did that too. Shoot a baddie in the leg and he falls and maybe tries to crawl. None of this stumble and get up nonsense when your leg is blown off. I don't really see how even action games like Crysis would suffer from damage models like that. After all most NK enemies had standard issue uniforms. With the nano suits all bets are off of course.

Anyway, looking forward to this game. So far I like the balance between playability and realism.
