by Alice O'Connor, Oct 02, 2009 1:35pm PDTAuthenticity is the subject of a new Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising developer diary, with the Codemasters gang detailing their quest for realism in everything from the tactical shooter's vehicle handling and paint jobs to motion capture and seeping blood.
Dragon Rising is released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 6.

I played Arma a few times with shacktac and even though it was awesome, it also took forever to get the action rolling. I just seem to lack the patience required to get into those games, but I WANT to like them so bad (which is why I bought them both).
This game is much more my speed. I like the realism aspect, without an infinite amount of controls. I also like what he said about the helicopter. I used to play Desert Combat for Battlefield 1942 and it was fantastic. Helicopters used the airplane model to fly (since there were no helos in BF1942) so it made it slightly difficult to master with just a keyboard and mouse. This made the learning curve steep enough to keep idiots from flying, but low enough so that you didn't need a joystick. This looks like that kind of game.
I'll try it.

Looking forward to it, and am hoping it'll be as good as it's hype suggests.

Anyway, looking forward to this game. So far I like the balance between playability and realism.
