Morning Discussion

Having played a quick round of Crash Course, I must say I am surprised it feels pretty different to the original Left 4 Dead campaigns. Good stuff. I'm looking forward to Left 4 Dead 2 more than ever. We're giving away six Crash Course codes for Xbox 360 too.

Speaking of infected humans, 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland is co-writing Ninja Theory's Enslaved--an action adventure based on Journey to the West, though I suspect they probably had its incredible television remake Monkey more in mind. This entire paragraph is a cunning ploy for me to cram those those opening titles down your eyes.

Let's try a slightly early chatty, you awful gossips. I don't know what you want from me.

I've waited months for L4D to come out on offer again. And the second I saw it I cracked a stiffy and brought it. Wohoo!

Wow, it's only $14.99 on Steam. Might be time for me to jump on this bandwagon or is L4D2 going to replace it soon?

I'm fairly sure L4D1 will stick around for some time.

Its still a game that you will play through all of the campaigns at a lan party with 3 friends. Play through the first, then play through the second. [then the third, fourth, fifth and sixth]

Tons of people still play the original Counterstrike. Yes, the one from seemingly 20 years ago.

Besides, it's half off! Think of all the money you're saving! ;-)

Jump! Then get LFD2 when it becomes the same price... because you know they will do it eventually.

Crash Course seems pretty tough on Expert. Then again I haven't played in ages and I suck horribly in Vs.

I bought it and reloaded my computer last night. I had a copy of Vista lying around and finally did that just in time for Win7.

      Steam name is Lucifunk btw.

Played some crash course with my buddy last night and it definitely reinforced my ban on LFD2.
I wouldn't be so cross if LFD2 wasnt full price, but it is... and that just doesn't seem right.

It had the opposite effect on me. It reminded how burnt out I am on L4D and judging from the previews, the new features are not going to be able to offer me anything. I don't give a shit about new guns and zombies, I want them to take the game mechanics a lot further.

I tried to play this 3 times yesterday and couldn't get into a game. I was even sent an invite to a Shack server and someone stole my spot before I could get there. :(

kind of the opposite here. I thought the two levels were poorly designed. Half the time people were wandering around in circles not knowing where to go next. I hope L4D2 has tighter level design.

the other 20 maps were fun to wander around in, these two not so much.

What bothered me wasn't the navigation elements but rather how badly they screwed up versus mode with the level design.

Same here, it was a huge let down comparing these two maps to any of the other maps from the original. Seriously lacking any semblance of interest.

It was too open. Sure there were some warehouses you could run through, but for the most part they were optional, and you spent most of your time outside. It would have been nice to have some variety, ie any of the L4D levels, where you start on a rooftop, go through an apartment building, down to sewers, through power stations, around gas stations that blow up, through office cubical etc.

From start to finish, you stay outdoors. What i've seen of L4D2 is the same outdoorsy type layouts..open spaces, nothing to make you feel claustrophobic like L4D...

I hope in L4D2, if you have to play with AI, they will use molotovs and pipebombs.

It'd be nice if they'd at least give them to you if you don't have one. Also, being able to pass molotovs and pipes to other teammates would be nice too.
