Missed that AGN Hardware updated their Voodoo 5 Preview with more GeForce vs V5 benchmarks, in 3D Mark, Q3 and UT. Except for the UT benchmarks, the Voodoo5 has a hard time keeping up with the GeForce running on 5.14 Detonator drivers.

@800mhz Intel 800x600 'Fast'
NVidia GeForce 5.14 Drivers 122.9
Voodoo-5 5500 AGP 102.2
NVidia GeForce 3.68 Drivers 95.5
V5 uses beta drivers on an alpha board though, but still..Oh yeah, this French site is supposed to have a GeForce 2 GTS review already, but I cant reach it, anyone can? (and actually understand it heh).

    GeForce2 Gts: it follows one another itself

    Before even as competition arrives at the level of performances of GeForce256, Nvidia markets already its successor ! GeForce2 GTS, it is its name, will be available in stores as of April 28 to the United States, a few days later in Europe. Is this the new revolution ?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    GeForce2 GTS constitutes an evolution of Geforce256. Engraved in 0,18 microns, it functions at the speed of 200 MHz, while the 32 Mo of memory GDR associated hum to... 333 MHz ! Here essential modifications made to the circuit :

    engine T&L was improved, to become approximately 30% more powerful. But once again, one will regret the little of titles available exploiting truly the T&L ;

    the fillrate profited from a very detailed attention. Where GeForce256 could produce 4 pixels per cycle of clock, composed of only one texture, GeForce2 GTS always creates 4 of them but, this time, composed of 2 textures ! Consequently, the fillrate of GeForce 2 GTS amounts to 1,6 GigaTexel/s (Giga Texel Shader) !

    thanks to this fillrate improved, the use of the effect of anti-aliasing, already present (at the material level) on GeForce256, does not affect the performances as much any more. That is true only in OpenGL mode, becausethe antione is not activated yet easily in Direct3D.

    the new architecture of the circuit enables him to create without notable loss of performances of the new and really impressive visual effects, thanks to the pixels shaders. Those make it possible to control the appearance of each pixel to the screen, to produce effects such as the bump mapping, specular or diffuse lighting... Unfortunately, the plays while drawing left are still not hustled at the developers.

    In terms of performances, GeForce2 GTS expresses all its capacities in high resolution, where it shows on average 20 to 25% swifter than its predecessor. Nevertheless on certain cases, the variation can reach 100% all the same. One is a little disappointed not to note more radical improvements! The limit of performances is not then more of with dimensions fillrate, but of the too slow exchanges with the memory. And this situation will last as much as there will not be memory definitely faster... However, with very fast processors, starting from 700MHz for example, the variation of performances with GeForce 256 GDR should rise to approximately 50 %. We will check that very soon more in-depth. While waiting, if you seek the technological signal absolutely, this card is for you. But if you have already a card GeForce256 GDR and never play in addition to 1024 X 768 points, this new circuit is not of really immediate interest, put aside forthe antione. If you are interested by the multi-media one, its capacities in this field (possibility of addition of tuner TV, of modules of inputs/outputs vidéos, encoding and Mpeg2 decoding) let consider very interesting applications. But it will be necessary to see the offer of the various manufacturers.
