Super Street Fighter 4 Announced

Following a period of speculation, Super Street Fighter IV has been revealed as an enhanced, stand-alone version of Capcom's fighter sequel.

Producer Yoshinori Ono told GameSpot that the game will include improved online features, balance tweaks to all existing fighters, and eight new characters. Three of the new fighters have already been confirmed: T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and newcomer Juri.

Though the game is being sold as a stand-alone retail disc, it will not be sold at full price. Owners of Street Fighter IV will also gain some kind of "bonus" to use in the Super version.

Super Street Fighter IV will arrive in spring 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No PC release was mentioned.

So exactly how hopeless is playing SF4 with a pad? When the game came out, I kept on reading about how a pad just doesn't cut it and you need a stick. I'm interested in the game, but I don't want to pay for the stick, and more important, I don't want it taking up space in my appt.

Maybe, just maybe, they won't make it so bloody hard. I seriously played that game with almost every character on easy and medium trying to beat arcade mode. I can pretty much easily get to Seth and then it's continue after continue of frustratingly cheap madness. I could just get it over with and beat him with Zangief or Sagat but I WANTED to unlock all the extra characters to experiment with. Well F*CK me right because I couldn't even beat it with Ryu on easy. BTW, from what I played there is little to no difference in difficulty when you switch from easy to medium. I actually beat it on medium with Zangief and Sagat but not on easy. Then again those 2 characters are almost as cheap as Seth. I say "almost" because Seth teleports around the stage and catches you with a black hole vortex that sucks you in and spits you out with nary a chance of blocking. HE FLIPPIN' TELEPORTS. Maybe the boss in SSF4 will just be invisible and kick your ass around without you even seeing him... Just an idea to make this game that much more accessible.

It's a bummer that this can't be done with DLC, but it's not a deal-breaker for me.

If they faced the choice of:

1.) Less comprehensive online play changes and character changes, more kloogy stuff and less overhaul, but it can be DLC

or

2.) Don't hold back, make the changes the way we think they are best, perhaps fundamental changes to netcode, matchmaking, disconnect handling, etc, but it has to be a new disc and costs $10-30 more

then I am glad they made the choice they did.

I bought two fightpads ($100) and a TE tournament stick ($150). My roommate and I play almost every day, mostly online but some local vs as well. For people like me who will care a lot about minor tweaks and gameplay changes, improved online play, etc, does an extra 20 bucks really matter? I would rather they make the best changes they can, and charge me whatever they have to charge.

I wasn't sure how good SF4 would be on PC so I waited and got it for $20 via Steam, and it turned out to be very VERY good. Unfortunately this 'new' release is just money grubbing (much worse than L4D2) and I wont be buying.

If it was DLC for SF4 I would be all over it, but a couple of new fighters and backdrops aren't worth the effort of calling it a new game, and lobby improvements are just a patch in my book.

Even with a special "bonus," I don't think I'm going to get this. This isn't the SNES days when you could simply release a new game with a few tweaks (that you could argue should've been in the original game to balance it anyways, and still could be changed with a simple patch) and a new name and expect it to sell a ton.

I hope this ends up on PC. I own both the 360 and PC versions and they did a great job with the port. Its one of the few cases were I am completely for crossplatform multiplayer.
