"I grew up around Antivan whores," assassin Zevran declares in his introductory trailer. "What?" another member of your party rightly exclaims in absolute astonishment.

Behind the sex and shlock marketing, though, BioWare's RPG Dragon Age: Origins still packs the tactical combat and engaging fantasy world one would expect from the developer of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights.

Dragon Age: Origins is slated to hit PC and Xbox 360 on November 3 then PlayStation 3 later in the month, published by EA and packing free downloadable content.

This game has fallen off my radar for some reason I can't quite define.

I can: It's the hateful advertising campaign

This advertising campaign is seriously the worst I've seen in years. It's looking like Mass Effect 2 is going to have a similarly awful one, though, so maybe that can top this one!

Although I watched this without sound, for some reason this doesn't look nearly as generic or crappy as the other promo vids.

I haven't seen a single advertisement after that "real shit" video. I will go into the game naively, yet optimistic.

Any type of marketing usually puts me off from a product.
