Gran Turismo 5 Coming to Japan in March 2010

Polyphony Digital's long-awaited Gran Turismo 5 will arrive in Japan come March 2010, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced at a Tokyo Game Show event today.

North American and European release dates for the PlayStation 3-exclusive racer are still unknown, though you shouldn't expect the game to race into those territories before Japan. But hey, given that PlayStation 3 software is typically region free, those willing to go so far as to import should be playing in March, regardless of physical location.

I will have been playing Forza 3 for 5 months by then, oh PD, Turn 10 released not 1, not 2 but THREE games inbetween GT4 and GT5, sad sad sad.

Yeah, DNF had release dates too. Lots of them. And I bet it'll just be another demo you have to pay for. "sorry, theres been a delay because we realized with 800 more man hours, we could make the sweet light reflections even sweeter!!1"

*yawn* As I've always said, I love GT games, and I'm sure that GT 5 will be tons better than Forza 7, but at some point any intelligent person, anyone with even a scrap of brain matter that can think for itself, will have felt let GT5 is the boy who cried wolf a long time ago. I'm gonna get more excited about DNF being revived and released before I'll ever get excited about the vaporware GT5.

Do games made in the States have their Japanese release dates set many, many months after the North American / European release date? Feels like I'm always hearing about Japanese titles not being released in the States until months after the Japan release date. Localization, maybe?

I dunno, maybe I need to see some video of the game in action, but these screen shots should make me shit my pants in amazement... but for some reason it's just not doing it for me. =/
