Motion controller maestros Richard Marks and Anton Mikhailov are back with wands in hand, demonstrating Sony's fancy controller with the help of their E3 demo.

The eight-minute video serves as a behind-the-scenes look at the demo, as well as a glimpse of some elements that were ultimately cut from the unveiling.

This blows Natal out of the water. I still, to this day, do not know why they bothered showing that stupid elephant painting part of the Natal demonstration. That was awful, especially compared to how nice the painting demo on this one looks.

Sadly, I don't think this mo-cap stuff is going to work properly until they can figure out how to handle one of the most intuitive, immersive motions available: turning your head to look around the space.

Obviously this sort of thing won't be an option until we get usable, comfortable head-mounted displays, but as long as we're stuck with using a thumbstick for something as simple looking in a different direction, everything else is just a lot of waggle.

Better than the Wii's controller but still just a gimmick until they can come out with serious games that can make use of it. Not real confident that'll happen.

Yeah I agree with the general consensus, there has to be games to support the technology. I'm sitting here with 2 wii-motion plus add-ons (while wii sports resort was fun for a while) and still waiting for a real proof of concept game to come along.

Since the camera always need to see that glowing ball there must be a lot of things you can't do that you can do with the Wii controller for example, like a golf swing where you have the controller behind you.
