With Slightly Mad's Need for Speed Shift having raced into shops this week, a 1.13GB downloadable demo of the PC edition can now be found over on FileShack.

The demo offers up two tracks (London River, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps) and five cars from the game, which is now available on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A separate PSP edition, handled by EA Bright Light, was released this week as well.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

This game feels great, just played the demo for an hr and i really like it. Graphically its alright, pretty good if the console version looks anything like the PC on high settings. But I dont like how it feels as though its limited by console requirements, it could look so much better - even GRID PC i think looks better and thats old news (fantastic game tho).

I really hope they patch the pc demo to allow for a few nicer touches. like Batman:AA. they could improve little bits. Most annoyingly is how theres no particle effects like smoke or dirt in the rearview mirror, but there is if u try out different views.

To sum up, my little bro came in and said, "is this the NFS game that looks like Gran Turismo 2". An extreme statement, which should probably be GT4. But as Forza 3 & GT5 look asthough they will be released soon, Shift will quickly goto the back of your mind.

Its funny how you first sentence says the most important things such as: "It feels great, and I really like it".

Then you beat on it because you don't see crap flying in your rear view mirror. The graphics are no where as bad as you are making it sound.

Yeah, i kind of went on a tangent on my dislike for consoles there. ur right, the graphics arent that bad, alot nicer in the driver view. but the mirror might annoy me, so i do hope they fix that.

What view are you playing it in? Play from the driver cam, and all your graphical nitpicks will go away in a second because goddamn is it an amazing experience.

Im not getting satisfaction, liked GRID much more.
Terrible interface in the menus, long load times, terrible car painter. And the ingame experience nothing I haven;t seen in Grid.
