Need for Speed Shift PC Demo Released

Terrible game. You can't total, when you hit a wall at 100mph your guy just makes an upmh sound and your car seems fine even on "pro" version where damage is set to full. The handling is piss poor, tap left and your doing a doughnut. Tap someone and the game stalls for like .5 seconds ( I have no idea why, it is the game though). This game is highly unrecommended, the demo isn't even worth it.

does the logitech g25 work for the demo... h-pattern and clutch?

People in this thread talk a lot about how much they like GRID, and I picked it up a couple months ago and I don't see the love. It's decent, don't get me wrong, but there's no car modifications (aside from paint schemes which I couldn't care less about) and there's no free roaming, just races. A very 'narrow' game. Car control is decent and the graphics are decent too, but NFS Most Wanted is still more fun to play in some ways, especially since you can modify the cars and free roam a big city. I wish there would be a game to combine these two.

A pretty big let down. When I think of NFS games, I think of an open city, cop chases, street racing, etc. This game has none of that. This is basically a Gran Turisimo or GRiD clone. All races are on tracks, and there is no open world/city aspect at all. If I want to play a game like this, I'll simply buy one of the two games I mentioned before. The upgrade system is way too easy to unlock, so the only real sense of achievement comes from winning your races, but you never really feel like your progressing in your career because it's just one series of races after another. Pretty sad.

is there any way to get out of the cockpit view?

playing the game on xbox all the time. it's great - EA is improving.


this game rocks in every aspect - it's enough arcade to not be boring and enough simulator to not be a joke

won't install because the physx redistributable won't run. fun

Wow, one of the worst demos ever.

After each race a 2 minute talk about the game that you can't get out of. Install process is incredibly annoying, and on top of that the control setup isn't alterable so I resorted to mashing keys to figure out how to change the viewpoint.

Oh, and the game is pretty shitty too. Input seems pretty unresponsive.

It feels pretty bad imo. The controls feel very laggy and respond poorly. It feels like there's a 0.5 lag between me doing something and the car's steering wheel actually turning.

It makes it very awkward to drive.

I'm comparing it to sims like LFS where there's a very direct mapping between your input and what you see in the game, with no lag at all.

Ok, so how do I start the demo a 2nd time cause I only get a black screen :|

This game feels great, just played the demo for an hr and i really like it. Graphically its alright, pretty good if the console version looks anything like the PC on high settings. But I dont like how it feels as though its limited by console requirements, it could look so much better - even GRID PC i think looks better and thats old news (fantastic game tho).

I really hope they patch the pc demo to allow for a few nicer touches. like Batman:AA. they could improve little bits. Most annoyingly is how theres no particle effects like smoke or dirt in the rearview mirror, but there is if u try out different views.

To sum up, my little bro came in and said, "is this the NFS game that looks like Gran Turismo 2". An extreme statement, which should probably be GT4. But as Forza 3 & GT5 look asthough they will be released soon, Shift will quickly goto the back of your mind.

Really enjoying this. Great force feedback, controls, tight visals... I can see me playing a lot of the full version.

NO xbox demo? :(

How does the handling compare to Grid 1 with it's weird pendulum suckiness?

Hey Faylor, this is probably a nit-picky thing, but on the front page you usually mention how bit the demo is: "The 1.3gb demo can now be found over on FileShack."

I know it's not a big thing, but when you get used to it you don't really notice it until it's gone :(
