So did anyone play the demo yesterday? How is it?

It gave me a lot of hope for the full game. The one negative everyone keeps mentioning (myself included) is that the gameplay seems a bit basic. You control Eddie with the left stick, look around with the right stick, swing your axe with the A button (hold it for an unblockable attack), X button is the guitar attack (quick lightning or hold for a fire attack), pressing X + A is an earthquake attack that knocks down surrounding enemies and then Y is a team up move if you have a partner AI around you.
The demo is the first 15-20 (roughly) minutes of the game so of course it's not going to be overly difficult. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than what the demo lets on. But where this game really shines is every other department. It's all top notch Double Fine stuff. The dialog is well done and actually funny, the environments are a joy to behold, the animations of the characters are outstanding and the story revels in its absurdity. Hell, even the startup menu is ridiculously wonderful.
The music is great if you're into metal. I am and I was surprised there's actually a ton of really great songs on the soundtrack that covers the very broad spectrum of the metal rainbow.
I thought it was odd they'd potentially alienate any non-metalheads who might want to play their next game, but I really don't think this should be an issue. Kind of in the same way you don't need to be a metal fan to enjoy Spinal Tap. It's just such a finely crafted game that you just can't help falling in love with it.
I was also pretty sure I was going to hate Jack Black, but surprisingly I don't. He's very well suited for this type of role.

Overall, I'm pretty excited for it. Trust in Double Fine. They won't let you down!

I guess they throw in some Overlord-ish miniions later on to control so that might add some depth.

Yeah I saw that in the trailer that rolled after the demo. A little army of headbangers. Could be interesting! I also forgot to mention the car. You get a car in the demo. It wasn't spectacular, or anything, but it's gives me hope that there's going to be all kinds of stuff they toss in to give it more depth.

There's a full RTS gameplay type in the game, kind of like Sacrifice. The MP trailer shows it off well.
