Hmm, I have two versions of UT but I can't remember which :) It's been years since I played it. Super mayhem, lots of fun. I got a new rig so I'll have to re-install it. Hmm, I wonder how to move the key. Drat, I may have to fire up the old computer again.

Ill get Ut3 just to play the RenX mod.
Its a free mod that tries to update Command and conquer renegade with better graphics, and as i've seen in videos, they have done a really good work :).

UT99, my most beloved most played multiplayer FPS, how I miss you.

Gone are the days of Lava Giant CTF, Deck 16 without all those silly new hallways, players that looked like they had less than 2 tons of armor on and a sniper rifle that could be zoomed to .1x for maximum headshooting without the disadvantages.

Oh yea, and playing CTF with a ton of people all using Riva TNT cards when I had 3Dfx, that "Flag Glow" goes through walls on Glide, I ALWAYS know where your hiding :-D

Its kind of sad how unfun UT3 is. I could not put UT2004 down for months when I got it. Just could not put it down.

I completely blame the removal/change to ONS.

I always thought one of the reasons this game never took off was because it didn't give any reason for UT2k4 players to move over to it. In some ways, it was less of a game than its predecessor, sacrificing its assault and onslaught mode for a kind-of hybrid warfare mode.

It looked like they were relying on modders to make up for the lack of content, of which there are some nice ones (that was one of the reasons I initially picked up the game). Too bad you need to have people actually playing the main game in order to have them check out the mods.

I'm glad Epic is taking a break from the series. I hope they look at reinventing it, or at the very least, return to the game's single player roots (and for the love of God, PLEASE keep Digital Extremes away from it!!!).

You know what i think could be one big problem with the modern FPS/fragfest games... I think the level design is crap.

Maybe its just me, but I dont think any reflex based fps has been anywhere near as good as quake 1 or UT99 (well maybe quake 3) and i think alot of it was because of not only the feel of the controls and weapons but in the memorable level design.

Maybe developers have forgotten with all the new fancy graphics that pretty scenery does not make a good deathmatch level.

All this talk of UT2k4.. I finally gave it a try after playing it briefly when it launched. Nearly every server I joined was populated only with "fake players" - bots who appear as players, have pings, automated responses, to fool only idiots into think they're playing against non-bots. I imagine this is done so that people don't see an empty server/bot server and never join, but it's pretty stupid, you can no longer load up a server list and trust any of the active player counts.

After joining roughly 15 servers and all of them just full of "fake players" I gave up and went back to UT99 (and modern games too, but UT99 for UT purposes).

The last UT3 free weekend generated no noticeable increase in the players for that weekend, and no new players afterwards either. Honestly, they couldn't even give this game away now, which is sad because it's "alright" to play and have fun with.

This is a UT3 mod I hope some of you would like to play.

I am a part of the team as a programmer on this project. Any feedback, good or bad would be great.

The mod is a puzzle single player mod with some combat mechanics. Around 4-5 hours of game play for new players.

So when you get bored of deathmatching, try this =).

This is cool but I was hoping for a Batman or Zuma's Revenge sale.

UT3 is a good game, it runs well and looks very nice, but UT2K4 raised teh bar much higher that it
never got close to beat it.

still, is a very fun game and worth much more than $1.99 asking price

UT Goty @ $1.99 ? The Steam site says $9.99 unless I'm looking at the wrong one?

Ahhh... Unreal was one of the first SP games to creep me out. Going through the hallways only to have the lights shut out one by own, then you'd hear the growl. The music and the gameplay were fantastic and my favorite thing was the Razorjack bouncing around the level going between my 4 speaker setup and you could hear it change position.

I got UT3 the first or second Free Weekend when it was on sale for cheap. I must admit that the single-player isn't anything amazing (standard-fare Quake 3 kind of stuff), but the multiplayer is quite fun (reminiscent of that FPS C&C game).
The mods are where it really shines though, I've spent several hours playing through several mods that are just a blast. Huge bang for the buck.

Hmm. I might have to get that pack. I've been meaning to re-buy UT2k4 because I hate having it on CD.
