Darkest of Days Demo Dawns on Xbox 360
by Alice O'Connor, Sep 15, 2009 4:30pm PDTThe demo for 8Monkey Labs' time-travelling shooter Darkest of Days has hit the Xbox Live Marketplace today, offering the tutorial and a slice of the Civil War battle of Antietam to Gold subscribers, while Silver members must wait until next Tuesday.
Darkest of Days' premise is simple--travel through time using ginormous weapons from the future against poorly-armed peoples of the past to save history as we know it.
The same demo was released on PC last month and received warmly by our dear old Demoman, though critical response to the full game--out now--has been less positive.

It's a first game from a small dev team. Almost indie small. The game isn't bad and shouldn't be compared to games that have multi-million dollar funding. Is it worth $40? Honestly, no. But I think $20-30 is a good price range, and it'd be nice to see 8 monkey have some success so perhaps, maybe, they can make a better game (sequel) down the line.

I like supporting the small devs too, and the game was quality enough for a purchase. Worth it.

Wait until it hits the $20 price point.
