Skate 3 Announced, Brings Skate Crews
by Alice O'Connor, Sep 15, 2009 7:01am PDTElectronic Arts today announced Skate 3, set in the brand new city of Port Carverton and expanding the "social and community aspects" of Black Box's skateboarding series.
"Whether online or offline, players can now team up to build the ultimate skate crew in the definitive skateboarding co-op experience," EA explains. "Players take part in team-based challenges, compete against rival crews and leave their mark on the all-new skater's paradise."
Co-op sports a new mode, "Where teammates can complete challenges together while advancing each other's careers," and there's a new skate.School to hone one's 'skillz.'
EA boasts that the skate.Create feature suite "empowers gamers to truly express their skate style by creating their own graphics, videos, and skate parks."
"We're giving gamers a very unique experience by providing them with the tools they need to build their ultimate team or to create a team comprised entirely of their online friends," said senior producer Jason DeLong in a press statement.
Skate 3 grinds onto Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in May 2010. Pre-ordering will net you the Black Box Distribution skate park, home to the Zero, Mystery, and Fallen teams.

I don't know if its only me but i feel like all the career mods and missions in a skate game are pointless. Just skating around, finding nice spot, trying out new tricks is all that i need, all that i want.

I'm not great at the games, but it is a definitely enjoyable series, and glad to see it continue.
