Creative Assembly communications director Kieran Brigden explains the concept of Napoleon: Total War in this video interview. Essentially, players can either assume the role of Napoleon, or match their might against him in the grand campaign.

Napoleon: Total War is scheduled for a February 2010 release.

Seems like the cool thing to do for devs nowadays is redeem past mistakes. Capcom fixed their PC rep with DMC4 (after the horrible LP and RE4 ports), Volition turned around and made Red Faction Guerilla an awesome port after failing with SR2, and now maybe CA will regain fans' loyalty by making this next game work fine and dandy on PC. We'll see.

I really liked Shogun, Medieval, and Rome.

I skipped Empire initially because the time period involved brings out the yawns in me, even though I was in the mood for another TW game. And then when I heard how shamefully broken it was (is?) I was a lot less disappointed about skipping it.

When/where is the multiplayer campaign? I could care less about Napoleon because the AI always sucks - but playing with a friend would be a great experience.

I love Empire. There is such depth and beauty in every aspect of the battles and game play that I look past my EVGA 8800 GTXd white screening and reloading the map every 10 minutes, despite rolling back my drivers to 2008.

I look past the AI that despite several patches specifically addressing the AI's ability to negotiate, strategize, defend and attack at the level of a 5th grader.

I play the game passionately despite these glaring errors because of the level of detail and development that is shown in every second Of gameplay. That being said, please please please fix the game you made so well that I play it despite its flaws. Please?

This is great. I love the idea of a game that's about an individual person, but isn't a first- or third-person action game. Pretty much always, when a developer identifies its game with an individual person, the player is simply controlling that character directly as they basically run through a bunch of action environments and kill or otherwise incapacitate tons of guys point-blank.

Tightly marrying a large-scale strategy game--which is usually one of the most impersonal game genres around--with an extremely well-defined historical character is a fascinating concept to me. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
