Rumor: Sony Prepping Casual Star Wars MMO

Star Wars Galaxies maker Sony Online Entertainment may be crafting another MMO set in the popular sci-fi universe, provided that Ten Ton Hammer is to be believed.

BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic and Sony's FreeRealms

Citing an "inside source," the site reports that it "sounds like" the project is a casual MMO set during The Clone Wars television show, and that the game will use the same technology as SOE's recent free-to-play minigame-filled MMO FreeRealms.

The site goes on to speculate that should Sony create a casual-oriented Star Wars MMO that shared the distinct look of the Clone Wars series, it wouldn't necessarily "take on" BioWare's anticipated Star Wars MMO, which is set in the "Old Republic" era.

Also they should drastically change core gameplay to "appeal" to everyone a year or two after release. Oh, and also make it so it won't appeal to anyone at all while they're at it. Oh oh, also add a cash shop on top of a subscription after saying you have no intentions to do so!

Oh, wait. All of that already happened.

I refuse to buy or play any MMO made by SOE after all that has happened to the poor games.

Man, I guess this Clone Wars shit is really raking in cash for Lucas. I really wish it would have died after the first animated series and have them move on to something a little more fresh. I'd really like to see them move into something post original trilogy. Maybe in 10 years when this teat is dry.

WHY? It doesn't make sense, they crapped out Galaxies why can't they leave the I.P alone and let Bioware deal with THE new Star Wars MMO and ONLY BIOWARE... what the hell is with idiots milking franchises. It pisses everyone off so STOP IT.

I approve of this. Make the Sony Star Wars game free. Make TOR subscription. Hopefully all the kiddies will be attracted to the free version and leave the Jedi and Sith fight in peace without Barrens and trade chats.
