New Mass Effect 2 screenshots hot off the PAX presses show more of the RPG sequel's potential companion characters Thane and Grunt, plus some good ole explosions.

Published by EA, BioWare's Mass Effect 2 is scheduled to hit PC and Xbox 360 in early 2010, continuing from your Mass Effect save and itself carrying over to Mass Effect 3.

    That's either a typo or a total exclusive about Mass Effect 3 at the end there...

      Mass Effect's always been billed as a trilogy, and BioWare has repeatedly said that your Mass Effect 2 data will carry over into the third.
