          Oh I agree it's more complex than that, but it is still feasable. The real question will be how much time they've put into development of it as to whether it is practical yet or not.
          
          Still I do think you are correct in that we'll probably see a partial transition(if anything) of some sort with this next version. A full blown rewrite probably will wait until iTunes 10.
          
          I'm just not discounting the possibilities :)
