Nvidia-branded Version of Stardock's Impulse Will Auto-Install Graphics Drivers
by Nick Breckon, Sep 01, 2009 4:00pm PDTStardock today announced that a new "Nvidia Edition" version of its PC digital download platform Impulse is set to be released later this summer.
The application will function just as Stardock's current incarnation of Impulse does, but will also automatically detect and install driver updates for Nvidia graphics cards.
"The single biggest issue preventing PC gamers today from having an optimal experience is a failure to update their video card drivers," said Stardock CEO Brad Wardell.
Continued Wardell: "For many users, updating video drivers has been a complicated and sometimes confusing experience. As PC game developers ourselves, we recognized those concerns and, in partnership with Nvidia, have taken a step to make the process more accessible."

I'd understand a few whines but come on... Are gamers really so entitled these days that anything that gets released, that isn't on their very own personal wish list, is a crime and something to cry about?

It can hurt people, if your the average joe generally you generally don't need to update your graphics drivers. By updating them automatically you increase the risk that some thing is going to go wrong.
As for the rollback feature. This is one of the reasons i am skeptical as to how much good this will do. If your video drivers are for some reason faulty you wont be able to boot windows. You will have to go into safe mode and manually remove the driver. I don't think the average joe would be able to do any of that.
Its some thing new yes, but it'll be interesting as to how it plays out.
