Take-Two Settles GTA 'Hot Coffee' Suit for $20M

21
Publisher Take-Two today announced that it has settled the class action suit over the "Hot Coffee" Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas mod controversy for $20 million.

"The class action was related to allegations of the purported "Hot Coffee" content contained in the Company's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas title and historical stock option granting practices," said the company in a press release.

The suit alleged that the company knowingly shipped San Andreas with the secret "Hot Coffee" sex minigame included on the disc.

"We are pleased to have reached this settlement, which represents another important step forward for the Company," said Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick.

What started all this again? A bunch of people somehow 'discovered' the mod, and complained to some judge claiming that Take Two had ruined their 17 year old children's sanity?
And somehow these people landed them 20 million USD divided into them? (how many were they anyway?)

See, it's ok for their kids to shoot cops, steal cars, beat up hookers, partake in gang warfare, and plow through pedestrians in a car... but expose them to sex, well now you're corrupting them.

That's cus the policies of the advanced countries are causing the problems in the first place, you ever thought of that?

Yeah, I have thought of that, what do you think I am fucking retarded? but I don't think that is the major cause.

I mean I could just turn the first guy I found on the street. Is he homeless because of the policies? Well if he is a veteran and could not get the proper help after coming back from war, then yes. But if he is just some guy who is a little crazy but mostly just lazy and just wants to live that life, or just can't stop drinking or heroin has a hold on him then no, it is not because of policies of the most advanced countries.

Go to a third world country and it gets harder to say for a fact the cause of the problems because I can not observe them first hand. But you could say if this third world country has many warlords who are just going to fight and steal anything of value, including any aid we send, while the people of the country remain powerless to do anything about it then we are not the main cause of their problems.

Still we and others keep throwing money at the problems, and they don't go away. We have been throwing money at the problems for decades at least.

Your money is getting flushed through the military toilet, and the term flushed is arguably accurate here. Why don't you start getting pissed about that.

I'm not sure what you're saying, but throwing the term "liberals" around like a naughty word definitely doesn't help your cause.

Sure, people point to political instability all the time. Warlords, corrupt bureaucrats, whatever. They all pale in front of the most basic of needs - to have enough to eat and survive.

The policies of the advanced countries are continental. How's that not a major cause, if not THE cause? With how much G8 subsidize the farming industry, thus flooding the market with cheap goods the African countries can't possibly compete with. Takes out their native agricultural industry just like that and replacing them with cash cropping which rape the lands of its nutrients.

Consider the opposite: If we, the industrialized countries, were to remove subsidies to our farming, most of our food production capacity would atrophy and get oursourced to cheaper countries where people work for $5 a day. That is fine (or tolerable at least) when it comes to industry, but food production? There are few thing of more strategic importance than a secure food supply, something we industrialized folks forget all too easily.
