This is not much different than asking where the movie or book industry are going. Things will keep improving, and that's about it. I do not think any futuristic breakthru like VR helmets, holographic displays, etc. will ever make much of an impact. The industry will slowly separate into two focused directions: single-player gaming and multiplayer gaming, and generally the two will not overlap. And stories will improve, but otherwise I do not see anything revolutionary happening anytime soon. Frankly, this is something I never think about.

WTF is up with this? Fool should worry about the future, or it will come and bite him in the ass.
